introduced a new Super Abrasion Resistant (SAR) acrylic sheet, which offers architects, designers, builders and manufacturers with a real alternative to glass. The material displays a clear difference to all other clear glazing materials. SAR is abrasion resistant, and as such resists scratching with abrasion resistance performance not dissimilar to glass.
SAR is produced by applying a hard coating to a Perspex acrylic substrate. This quality coating provides SAR with a surface that has 45 times the abrasion resistance of uncoated acrylic, making it an attractive material for applications that require the safety, optical and aesthetic qualities of acrylic, along with a highly abrasion-resistant surface coating for internal and external projects.
The SAR difference:
Cleanable – resists chemicals and abrasion (45 times the abrasion resistance of uncoated acrylic); SAR has superior light transmission qualities and is ideal for any glazing application; Safe – resists impact and shattering (5 times the impact resistance of glass); Lightweight – Half the weight of glass; Weatherable – Retains properties long term, i.e. the Perspex substrate and the SAR coating are guaranteed for 10 years in both internal and external applications.
The SAR acrylic sheet is available ex stock thicknesses in clear and many colours (on application). Sheets can be cut to size and shape; Fabrication friendly for flat finishes; the SAR material allows application of a number of decorative finishes to the underside of the sheet, whilst maintaining a very tough upper surface. These sheets can then be used in both vertical and horizontal applications; and whether it is shop fit outs, furniture, partitioning and other screening applications, transport or marine glazing, the design flexibility of SAR is unparalleled.
